Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) have helped increase food production and medical care to support the world's growing population, according to the author. While GMOs have not been proven to pose health risks, some argue they could disrupt natural food chains. The author created a lesson plan and presentation to teach sophomore students about genetic engineering. They incorporated facts about GMOs from their research paper into the lesson. Creating and presenting the lesson helped connect their paper topic to a real-world teaching product.
